Empower young people for a better future
Opening access to the Arts for all and building communities
Be brave, take risks, push open doors…
Our vision is grounded in the recognition that secondary school education represents a pivotal period in a young person's intellectual and cultural development. With Shakespearean plays forming a compulsory part of the curriculum for students aged 11-16, we understand the importance of providing immersive and accessible experiences that complement classroom learning. By offering free access to live productions of Shakespeare's works in local theatres, we aim to bridge the gap between academic study and real-world engagement, enriching students' understanding of the text and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
We recognize that many students may perceive traditional theatre spaces as inaccessible or intimidating. By inviting them into their local theatres and demonstrating that these cultural institutions are for everyone, regardless of background or prior exposure, we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging and empowerment among young people. Through this dual approach of educational enrichment and cultural inclusivity, we believe we can have a direct and measurable impact on exam outcomes, as well as broader outcomes related to social cohesion and personal development.
Rare Vision aims to not only to provide students with the opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre but also to empower them to excel academically and culturally, while fostering a sense of ownership and belonging within their local communities. By igniting their imaginations and expanding their horizons, we aim to shape the next generation of critical thinkers, creative leaders, and engaged citizens.
The Mission:
Our mission is multifaceted, driven by a commitment to both artistic excellence and social impact:
Arts Accessibility: We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to experience live theatre. By offering free admission to secondary school pupils, we aim to eliminate financial barriers and ensure that no student is deprived of this enriching cultural experience.
Educational Enhancement: Numerous studies have demonstrated the positive correlation between arts engagement and academic success. By exposing students to the language, themes, and complexities of Shakespeare's works, we strive to enhance their literacy skills, cultivate empathy, and broaden their intellectual horizons.
Community Engagement: Our touring productions will not only benefit students but also strengthen ties within local communities. By collaborating with theatres, schools, and community organizations nationwide, we seek to foster a sense of unity and collective pride in the cultural heritage that Shakespeare represents.
